Tower Bridge

There is no doubt that Graphic Design is an integral part of every man made object from simple logos to large engineering projects.
Tower Bridge is a fine example of civil engineering. Although it is a design of its time its beauty has endured over time and its now modern environment further accentuates it. It has become a symbol of London and it attracts tourists from around the globe, this is a further testament to its timeless design. The building was designed initially to act as a bridge for the people, however it needed to have the height to allow ships to pass through because rivers at the time were the main trading roots so the design had to incorporate good engineering to allow the bridge to be both functional and pleasing to they eye. Sometimes designs are dictated by the engineering within. Tower bridge is one such example that the design had to be built around its functioning parts. The length of time it has functioned and still continues to do so is a reference to not just the quality of workmanship but to the visual aspects of the finished product. Overall the design is one that attracts few critics.
